STORYTELLING PHOTOGRAPHY

for families who value real moments.

As a family and motherhood photographer in the Cape Winelands, my approach is simple... I document your family exactly as they are. No stiff poses. No pressure to perform or your kids to behave.

Families.

Family life isn’t perfectly coordinated outfits and everyone smiling at the camera. So why would you want your photos to look like that?

Family life is...

Movement.

Laughter.

Tears.

Moods.

Smal routines.

Messy but beautiful for the most part.

That’s the version of family life I photograph.

Family sessions with me are relaxed and unhurried. It's child-led.

Instead of directing every moment, I gently guide families while leaving plenty of space for natural interactions to unfold.

That might look like:

• playing together at the beach or in your backyard

• exploring a park

• a slow morning at home with your children

• an afternoon outing for ice cream

The focus is always the same: connection.

Connection over perfection. Every time.

Storytelling photography is real and honest, and it tells YOUR story.

Rather than creating stiff poses, this approach captures genuine emotion - the way your children interact with you, the way your family moves together, and the little moments that define this stage of life.

Years from now, these photographs become more than images.

They become memories.

Motherhood.

There is a quiet tenderness in the early years of motherhood.

The way your baby curls into your shoulder.

The small weight of them sleeping on your chest.

The ordinary afternoons that somehow feel both endless and fleeting at the same time.

When you’re in it, it can feel like just another day. But years from now, these are often the moments mothers wish they could return to.

Motherhood photography is about preserving that season of life in a real and honest way.

Your baby in your arms.

Your toddler climbing into your lap.

The familiar rhythm of your home.

Most motherhood sessions take place where families feel most themselves — at home, or somewhere meaningful to them in the Cape Winelands.

The result is a collection of photographs that feel deeply personal and quietly timeless.

Why you need to book a motherhood shoot...

Motherhood changes constantly.

Babies grow.

Children become independent.

The little rituals of daily life slowly fade into memory.

Documenting this season means you get to hold onto that feeling a little longer.

Because one day, these ordinary moments will be the ones you miss the most.

These sessions are perfect for:

• pregnancy and maternity

• newborn and early weeks at home

• mothers with young children

• documenting everyday life with your kids

There is no perfect age or stage to capture motherhood. Every season holds something worth remembering.

Frequently Asked Questions

where do the family sessions take place?

Together we decide on a location that is both comfortable and meaningful to you as a family, that is also convenient. This could be your home, the beach, a park or forest, or any other venue where you spend time as a family.

What if my children don't behave or cooperate?

My sessions are completely child-led. They don't have to "behave" or sit still, or smile at the camera. They just need to be themselves, explore, run and interact with you. There is zero pressure for perfect behaviour. In fact, I also ask my families to not feel the need to discipline AT ALL during the session.

When will we receive our photos?

You will receive some sneaks within 2 days. The full gallery will be available online for download within 3-4 weeks.

How long does a session last?

Usually between 45 and 90 minutes. However long it takes for us to create magic together. Some sessions like newborn sessions might take longer because we take it slow and allow time for nappy changes and baby to be fed etc

What if the weather is bad and it rains?

If it's miserable weather we can always reschedule but an overcast day actually makes for some beautiful photos!

how many photos will I receive?

This all depends on the package you select and the type of shoot.

For family and motherhood sessions, you will receive anything from 60+ and for birth and events where I shoot longer, you will get 200+.

what do we wear for our photoshoot?

Firstly, comfort is key! Secondly, you don't need to buy new outfits just for the shoot. Once we booked your shoot, I will send you your guide on how to prepare for our time together which includes how to dress.
